Your Retreat Leaders:

Cheryl Bailey’s passion in the holistic and wellness field began years ago after personally facing several traumatic and life-altering events. She found a sense of purpose and meaning through the practice of yoga and meditation. These ancient teachings have served as anchors for healing which have created deep and radical shifts for her spiritually, mentally, and emotionally. She has an authentic desire to continue to learn new tools for personal growth, healing, and self-care, while keeping up to date on the latest research in these areas. She practices what she preaches, as she believes her line of work is more than a source of income — it’s her soul’s purpose! Her mantra is that “we are all here to live and express the fullest version of ourselves.” Over the years, her thirst for knowledge has expanded her practices to include certifications in Sound Healing, Reiki, and as a Crystal Practitioner. One of her deepest passions is working with sound as vibrational medicine, knowing that sound promotes deep relaxation and has the power to create, move and shift energy. Sarah McLean is a meditation and mindfulness teacher who has leads meditation and self-discovery retreats all over the world. She is dedicated to helping participants usher in new levels of self-awareness, inspiration, and sustainable spiritual practice. She is the founder and director of the Meditation Teacher Academy and has mentored hundreds of meditation teachers all over the world. Sarah’s an avid explorer who’s been aiming to live a life of meaning and kindness since she was a young adult. While in her early 20s she took a 9-month  bicycle trip seeking the secrets of spirituality around the world. Traveling thousands of miles from Europe to the Middle East, and then into Asia, she returned home only to find what she was looking for all along – while sitting still with her eyes closed in a meditation class. That’s when she found a radiating peace and a sense of connection to something bigger: she wanted to explore more.  In 1989 she met Deepak Chopra and was mentored by him for eight years, serving as the program director for his mind/body health center in Southern California and later became a celebrated public speaker at his retreats. She then took a two year sabbatical to immerse herself in contemplative practices while living in a traditional ashram in India. She returned to the USA where she lived as a Zen Buddhist lay monk in a remote monastery. Sarah then served as the director for the School for the Work for Byron Katie.

Since 2006, Sarah has been the director of the McLean Meditation Institute, home of the international Meditation Teacher Academy which certifies meditation and mindfulness teachers worldwide. She also is the president of the MMI Mindful Training Company which delivers mindfulness training to organizations worldwide, and is the co-director of the Feast for the Soul, a not-for-profit organization which offers an annual 40-day spiritual practice period.

Sarah is a celebrated, best-selling Hay House author of Soul-Centered: Transform Your Life in 8 Weeks with Meditation. She’s also written The Power of Attention: Awaken to Love and Its Unlimited Potential with Meditation, and, Simple Easy Everyday Meditation. She has been featured in award-winning documentaries including Enlightenment and Tapping the Source, and in publications including The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, The Guardian, Prevention Magazine, and The Washington Post. She’s been on a variety of television shows including local morning shows, Fox Health News, and CBS. She lived in Sedona, Arizona for 17 years where she opened a world class meditation center, and now lives in Santa Barbara, California where she gardens, keeps bees, and writes. She still considers Sedona her spiritual home.
